Scenario:

Error message appeared: Cannot update the cursor or File Access Denied. UBS could not update the required files. This was caused by incorrect file sharing, causing the database files to be Read-Only.

Solution:

To solve this, make sure the UBS folder is shared with Full Control.

In Windows Explorer, right-click the UBS folder (e.g.ubsacc90, ubswpay90) and select Sharing and Security. There are two types of file sharing interface:

1. Simple File Sharing (Window XP Home/Pro): at Sharing tab, tick both Share this folder on the network and Allow network users to change my files.

2. Advance File Sharing (Window XP Pro, Server 2000/2003): at Sharing tab, select Maximum allowed for User Limit, click on Permissions button, highlight Everyone, tick Full Control, click 'Apply'.

At Security tab, highlight Everyone, tick Full Control, click Apply.

Note: If Everyone does not exist, then click 'Add' and type in Everyone.
